Ready to get sweaty? Wait—no, scratch that. Rather, at the Spring/Summer 2012 Alturzarra show, its more about getting ready to be sporty, where cool-girl track pants and baseball jersey-and-scuba-suit-derived tops are certainly not meant to wick sweat, but rather ooze style. So when crossing glam with sport, it certainly makes sense that MAC makeup lead Tom Pecheux’s inspiration is “Elizabeth Taylor at the gym.” To wit, brows take on the guise of Taylor’s famed arches, exaggerated in size and blackened with MAC Smolder Eye Kohl and Carbon Eye Shadow. And as anyone who’s ever hit the gym knows, a little shine to the skin means the hard work’s paying off. To capture this, Pecheux paints MAC Pro Gloss Texture across the lids to mimic just the slightest bit of post-workout sheen.
The nails, which CND lead nail tech Candice Manacchio calls “Second Skin” manicures, receive a slick of nude CND Colour in Putty and are topped with CND Super Matte Top Coat for a flesh-like finish—the perfect sporty nail. —Karie L. Frost
