Fashion’s Night Out is celebrating its third annual shopping extravaganza on Thursday, September 8, 2011. What is this event, you ask? It’s an evening chock-full of after-hours shopping, makeovers, cocktails and snacks featuring some of the best styles and trends for this fall. While Fashion’s Night Out originated in NYC, it has now become a global phenomenon—and even if you don’t live in a major city, you can participate online.
While the name itself specifically calls out fashion, there are plenty of opportunities for beauty lovers, particularly in the form of nails. And thanks to Beauty Etc., they’ve done all the work for us! Check out some of NYC’s must stops for nails…
Fashion Week is all about the trendy and the glitzy, so if you want to feel like an A-lister, you can glam yourself up with some Chanel polish. Stop by any of their boutiques for a free mini-manicure featuring the company’s denim-inspired FNO Nail Colour Collection, Les Jeans De Chanel. We’re particularly partial to “Coco Blue,” a fabulously faded and in-jean-ious indigo.
The hot summer may be coming to an end, but if you still need something cool, head over to the Meatpacking District where Color Club will serve up a rainbow of nail polish colors out of an ice cream truck. Known as the Color Club Mobile Color Bar, this lacquer haven will be scooping out its limited edition FNO Red flavor for all to try!
If you’re up to hanging with some teeny boppers while getting a gratis manicure, head over to the West Village to check out the Teen Vogue FNO Block Party where Essie will spruce up your nails and give you the chance to speak to Essie celebrity manicurist Elle Gerstein (our personal friend!) all about nails and her celebrity clients’ favorite mani products and looks.
If you’re a social networking junkie, CND has your fix. Track their Mobile Shellac Manicure Van on Twitter (@CNDWorld) to find out where the on-the-go truck will be so you can take part in CND Shellac services. If location hunting isn’t your thing, you can head over to the Malandrino Boutique on Hudson St. for complimentary CND Shellac services or to Bergdorf Goodman where, if you purchase a CND Effects set of four polishes, you’ll score a free Shellac “Mood Ring” manicure service.
Sephora on 34th St. and Fifth Ave.
Meet Nails Inc. founder Thea Green, who will be coming all the way from across the pond to offer up nail tips and to launch the company’s exclusive FNO nail polish—a deep, silver-metallic blue.
It’s all about the bling. Stop by the Frederic Fekkai salon, and sip on champagne while bejeweling your nails with a Swarovski Manicure.
Peruse the garb at Marc by Marc Jacobs, and then relax for a bit while Minx Nails manicurist Lisa Logan fashions nail art. (That’s Rihanna’s nail tech, for those of you who don’t know!)
Ricky’s at 2387 Broadway
Groove to DJ beats and munch on some snacks while you meet celeb nail tech Patricia Yankee, who has done the digits of pop star Katy Perry. You can also get a complimentary manicure from this savvy nail stylist herself with a store purchase.
Spend the evening with founder and creative director François Nars, who’s making sure you’ll sparkle on this celebrated shopping night. NARS will launch its exclusive FNO Silver Odyssey collection, coupling Via Crispi Larger Than Life Long-Wear Eyeliner and Space Odyssey Nail Polish—both rich, metallic silvery hues. (Hey, we’re noting a silver and blue FNO nail trend here!)
