All licensed nail professionals give so much to their clients and often forget to take care of their own well-being.

Embracing empathy, the ability to understand and share the feelings of others and yourself, is a way to keep calm during hectic times at the nail salon. It is a daily practice, but it can help keep the workplace safe and calm.

"Before I speak to others, I analyze the words that are to come out of my mouth," says Tanya Momi, manicurist and owner of Spoil Me Salon. "I make a point to check in with myself."

When it comes to directing the conversation with clients, it can be helpful to remember the acronym THINK:

  • Is what I am going to say the truth (T)?
  • Is it helpful (H)?
  • Is it inspiring (I)?
  • Is it necessary (N)?
  • Is it kind (K)?

At the upcoming Nailpro Nail Show 2022, Momi will give her pro tips for perfecting pedicures on Aug. 22, 2022, from 1-2 p.m. Event attendees will discover the benefits of having consultations with clients to assess their needs before performing a service. This information can provide gentle, effective, thorough pedicures catered to every client.

In addition, Momi will cover how to remove dead skin on feet, learn to not overcut cuticles or push them too far back on feet and choose the proper tools for pedicures.
