Polished Look: All Ruffled Up

Dolce & Gabanna May PL 3

Ruffles, a trend traditionally reserved for formal occasions, have made their way to ready-to-wear. For spring, the look is mixed with embroidered blooms and floral patterns. At Alexander McQueen, muted wild flowers float on a sheer ruffled fabric, while a tiered gown at Marchesa showcases stitched blossoms and cascading layers. Dolce & Gabbana took a menswear approach, pairing the trend with an exaggerated button-down silhouette and Marc Jacobs went girly, using hot pink pleated silk to construct oversized ruffles front and center. To recreate the look, reach for your sculpting brush as nail artist Torie Bastian did here, crafting 3-D nail art with a touch of glitter.
