Forming connections with your clients is an important part of business.

It helps you know what they want out of their service and keeps them coming back to your chair, time and time again. But, for some, it may be difficult to determine the best ways to develop impactful relationships that keep both parties satisfied. We asked our Instagram followers for their advice on how they form meaningful and lasting relationships with their clients.

@kl.hairartistDon’t fake it! Clients can tell when your interest and care for them is sincere and when it isn’t. Make sure they don’t feel like just another customer, but like a valued guest. Listen to them, open up to them and it magically becomes a beautiful friendship (99 percent of the time).

@getprettywithvRemembering the little things about them. It makes clients feel truly appreciated.

@becthestylistIt’s just like the saying “treat others the way you want to be treated.” Each guest who sits in my chair deserves the same respect, validation and kindness. I choose to treat all my guests this way, regardless of their race, lifestyle, religion, etc. By treating everyone equally, I have gotten to know so many people who I may have otherwise overlooked; that has helped me to develop more genuine relationships with each client.

@samanthalipglossJust be yourself, and they’ll love you. I can say I love all of my clients. People value genuineness.

@hairbycherrypI think follow-up is so vital. It’s super important to stay connected between appointments. Sometimes it’s just a quick message, like “How are you? I’m thinking of you. How is your hair? How is that new product working out for you?”
