Nail Artist Q&A: “Nailed Down!” with Korissa Valdivia!

Korissa Valdivia Composite

Welcome to NAILPRO’s Nailed Down! where we “nail down” nail artists and technicians from our User Galleries and get to know them and their amazing work!

This week we visit Chicago, Illinois!

Meet Korissa Valdivia:

Where do you work?
I’m currently working from home as I’m still a beginner and also a stay-at-home mom.

How would you describe yourself?
I would describe myself as determined, hardworking and very caring. As a beginner, I’m trying my best to get my hands on any new information or new techniques so that I can hopefully become a master.

How did you get started in the nail industry?
I’ve always loved art. To me, becoming a nail technician is becoming an artist who works on a tiny canvas. I love it.

What/Who inspires your work?
I would say my children inspire me. They see the world in a way most people have forgotten and I just love to put that beauty into my artwork. They also inspire me to keep learning not only to make myself a better technician, but to make them proud.

What is your favorite technique/style?
I would say my favorite technique is 3D acrylics 🙂

What tip can you offer other nail technicians?
The only thing I can tell other technicians is never give up. People may not always like your work and it may be hard and stressful when you start, but you have to just use that fuel to keep going. If you really want it, you have to put in the work.

Anything else you’d like to add?
I’m eager to build my clientele. If anyone is interested in my work please feel free to contact me on Facebook. In a couple of months my daughter will be old enough for daycare and I’ll be looking for salon work in Chicago.
