Nail Artist Q&A: “Nailed Down!” with Chrystal Brown!

Chrystal Brown Composit

Welcome to NAILPRO’s NAILED DOWN where we “nail down” the details of selected nail design artists from our User Galleries.

This week we visit Waynesburg, Pennsylvania.
Meet Chrystal Brown:

How would you describe yourself?
I am a unique person. I am a leader as far as doing my own thing. I am a mother of three beautiful girls. I am a bit off-the-wall at times, but am an all around fun person to be around.

Tell us about how you got started in the nail industry.
I first started doing nails around the age of fourteen. I started off doing my mom’s and my own nails with drugstore acrylic kits. It branched from that to family, then friends. I was twenty-one when I finally decided to go to school to become a nail technician, and I have been doing it ever since. I now work for East Side Hair in Waynesburg, PA.

Tool(s) you can’t live without?
I can’t live without my electric dremel. It is my must-have tool.

Favorite technique/style?
I absolutely love my work! My artistic ability allows me to go above-and-beyond what some can do.

What tip can you offer to other nail technicians?
Best advice that I can give other nail technicians is don’t be afraid to learn. Open your eyes and take a look around you. Sometimes your surroundings and environment are the best teachers you can have.

Is there anything else you’d like to add?
I want to thank my high school art teacher, Debbie Salosky, for pushing me to strive to be the best that I can be at everything. She is the woman who inspired me to do what I am doing today.
