Sweater Textures For Sweater Weather

Cozy up to textured nails that celebrate chunky knits and argyle prints. Australia-based nail artist and creator of Youtube channel Get Buffed Nails Sarah Elmaz shares her step-by-step process for textured tips.

Look 1

  1. zApply gel base coat and cure. Then, apply two coats of pale pink gel polish, curing after each. Wipe off the brush and drag bright pink gel polish vertically down the nail. Repeat until the nail is covered in thin streaks of color, then cure.
  2. Next, wipe off the brush of a neon pink gel polish and drag it vertically down the nail. Use a striping brush to feather out the color, then cure.
  3. Paint three wide diagonal stripes of sheer white gel polish across the nail. Cure. Then, paint three more wide diagonal stripes across the nail in the opposite direction and cure.
  4. Use a striping brush to paint two thin white lines in between the wide diagonal stripes in each direction, then cure. Apply a thin layer of matte gel top coat and cure.

  1. Apply a thin layer of gel base coat and cure. Then, apply two coats of sheer white gel polish, curing after each.
  2. Use a striping brush to paint five horizontal lines across the nail with white gel polish and cure. Then, paint short, angled white lines in between the horizontal lines, changing the direction of the angle with each set of lines.
  3. Continue painting the angled lines until the entire nail is covered, then cure. Paint a thin white border around the nail and cure. Apply a thin layer of matte gel top coat and cure.

  1. Apply a thin layer of gel base coat and cure. Then, apply two coats of pale pink gel polish, curing after each.
  2. Use a detail brush to paint four curved lines with black gel polish. Cure. Outline four black triangles and cure. At the moon, paint a curved gold line and pink line above it. Cure. Paint small pink triangles in each triangle and cure.
  3. Paint a curved pink line near the center. Then, at the tip, paint five pink triangles, and cure. Paint the area between the two curved lines at the tip pink, and cure. Then, outline two black triangles, and cure.
  4. Fill in the design with black, gold and pink, then cure. Apply matte top coat and cure. Paint white triangles and two white curved lines at the center, and cure. Do not remove the tacky layer. Apply white acrylic powder, then cure.
