So often we immediately equate being “cool” with being “edgy” (and, consequently, “edgy” with being somewhat outré), but “cool” can surmise a sort of “polished sophistication” as any Upper East Side fashion-forward dame will tell you. This other type of cool is the backstory at 25-year-old Wes Gordon’s Spring/Summer 2012 presentation, where youthful separates reign supreme, and “dressy casual” isn’t some silly request listed on an event invite. Gordon tapped CND as the nail team to round out the look, and lead tech Kristina Estabrooks delivers with slightly longer, soft almond-shape “Power Nails” dressed in two coats of CND Colour in Poppyfield to reflect an air of “’60s SoHo sophistication.” Gordon jokingly notes that the longer length of the nails could serve his muse well…if she were in a bind: “[She’s] sleek and civilized, but she might scratch your eyes out.” With cool, sophisticated and gorgeous lacquered nails, of course. —Karie L.
