August 15, 2021, is National Relaxation Day, so we're sharing these at-home tips from the medical experts at STRATA Integrated Wellness and Spa at Garden of the Gods Resort and Club. Pass them on to your clients, and practice them yourself to instantly boost well-being.
1. Take Time to Breathe
Pause for a moment. Sit comfortably, close your eyes and take 10 slow, deep belly breaths—even just a few rounds of mindful deep breathing can support relaxation.
2. Make a Chill List
Brainstorm activities that help you relax: bubble baths, time in nature, soothing tea, receiving a massage, time with friends/family or pets, reading a book or enjoying a date night.
3. Simply Cuddle
Cuddling for just 30 minutes can decrease stress and lower blood pressure, so prioritize cuddles more often!
4. Trade Scalp Massages
With thousands of nerve endings on the scalp, a scalp massage for even a couple minutes can help the body relax and erase the stressors that distract us. Add soothing music, nature sounds or binaural beats for more benefits.
5. Clear the Clutter
Look ahead at the next week or month, and make a point to cut a few things that feel overwhelming. Pencil in more "me time" for self-care and to say no to unnecessary tasks and obligations.
