Savvy Salon: The Spa at Dollywood’s DreamMore Resort

spa-savvy-salon-dreammore“At The Spa at Dollywood’s DreamMore Resort, we took inspiration from Dolly Parton and her love of the Great Smoky Mountains to create a salon experience that can’t be replicated anywhere else in the world,” says Billy Smith, spa manager at Dollywood’s DreamMore Resort and a 35-year veteran in the salon and day spa industry. “We work to create the best spa experience anywhere. We want our spa guests to feel both pampered and right at home.” The spa is on the first floor of the resort and its location was chosen to make the spa easily accessible to guests and close to many of the resort’s amenities, including the restaurant, outdoor and indoor pools, family activities at Camp DW (for kids) as well as the fitness and recreation rooms. What’s more, the setting can’t be beat: The location features sweeping scenic views of the Great Smoky Mountains, plus the spa offers access to outdoor patios, complete with rocking chairs.

THE LOOK
The spa decor is glamorous—with plenty of sparkle everywhere! Clients can see Dolly Parton’s inspiration throughout the salon, not only in the glitz and glamour, but also in the Southern charm and friendliness of our staff. Everything is designed to be welcoming, classy and steeped in Southern hospitality.”

THE CLIENTELE
Our guests are couples or families on vacation who want extra pampering during their stay, or people who live in the area and want to experience the spa. We see a good mix of women and men. The variety of treatments that we offer, including services geared specifically for men, teens and children, are part of the family and shared experience focus at Dollywood’s DreamMore Resort. For example, while Mom is getting pampered with a pedicure, she can watch her daughter—whether she is 4-years-old or 14—enjoy a manicure. The typical client spends two hours in the spa and salon, usually gets multiple services and spends $100 or more.

IN-DEMAND SERVICE
Our “Scents of the Season” pedicures are very popular. With four beautiful seasons in the Great Smoky Mountains, that natural beauty translates into a multitude of colors and scents unique to each time of year. If a spa guest receives a treatment that captures the hues and aromas of autumn, for example, we believe they will want to come back to see what the new holiday seasonal treatment will be. Guests have also said that they love the warm towels, hot stones, masks and scrubs used in the spa treatments.

THE GOODS
The Spa at Dollywood’s DreamMore Resort uses OPI exclusively. The brand offers such a great variety in colors, as well as seasonal collections, and that’s a great fit for the spa’s changing “Scents of the Season” treatments. The nail products are retailed at the spa, in addition to all of the products lines used in our services. The Farm House Fresh collection is especially popular. The brand’s lotions complement the manicures and pedicures, and give guests the opportunity to extend their salon service beyond their visit. What’s more, the resort places samples of the Farm House Fresh body lotion in every guest room. Plus, we are the only spa in the state of Tennessee to offer Skin Authority products.

SOCIAL MEDIA
We successfully use Facebook promotions and e-blasts to get the word out about our salon and spa, and we are using Instagram and Twitter more often to reach even more clients.
PRAISE
The compliment that we hear time and again is that the spa’s customer service is top notch. Our great team of spa technicians are focused on—and delight in—giving guests the ultimate relaxation experience.
