Get to know Gisel Badilla (@thenailfaiiry). She is a 23-year-old nail tech at Maven Beauty in Tucson, Arizona.
Q&A:
Nailpro (NP): How did you get your start as a nail tech?
Gisel Badilla (GB): I was tired of never getting what I wanted at shops and decided it was time for me to learn how to do my own nails. I never thought about doing nails full-time until I discovered MJ Nailz Academy and quit my full time job to attend nail school.
NP: What do you love about your job?
GB: I love that I get to be creative and connect with people in the process.
NP: Where do you find inspiration?
GB: From other nail techs!
NP: What is a piece of advice you would give other nail technicians who are just getting started?
GB: Practice as often as you can! Even if you don’t have people to practice on, do your own nails!
NP: What is your favorite nail trend right now?
GB: Airbrush and Frenchies because they never get old.
NP: What is your favorite service to offer?
GB: XL tapered square with nail art
NP: What is one of your proudest achievements as a nail tech?
GB: Getting recognized for my work from brands
NP: What do you love about the nail community/industry?
GB: I love that there’s so many different routes you can take in the nail industry. You can do so much more as a nail tech than just work at a salon and take clients.
NP: What are your top goals as a nail tech?
GB: To only take clients for fun and my main income come from educating, social media content and maybe even my own nail supply store.
