From perfectly achieving a difficult nail design to creating deep connections with salon clients, there are many fulfilling moments in the life of a nail technician. In honor of National Nail Tech Day on May 30, 2022, we asked our followers on Instagram what makes them proud to be a nail tech and why they love their job.
@agra: There is no real explanation for passion.
@chellys_nails: Bringing expressions, feelings and visions to life into miniature art that are so unique and special to [my clients] and me each time. It is not just getting nails done; it is a whole experience and something they look forward to. The satisfaction of making them so happy while doing what I love to do. It never feels like work ever, just spreading happiness!
@katrinas_kreations_: Last week, after I was done with her nails, my client looks at them and says, “Oh, my god, are those my hands?” She was so happy, and it felt so rewarding.
@sarah.nails.it: It feels SO GOOD to take a couple clients a day, come home to my babies and still make an awesome income. I not only support my family but provide things like dance lessons and Disney trips.
@jeselhortiz: I found who I was as a person again. I had become a wife and a mom, but that was all I was really known for; I was Jason’s wife and Xavier and Jesenia’s mom, which I LOVE with all my heart. But nine years ago, when I became a nail technician, I found a place where I was not just a mom or a wife; I was Jesel, a girl who found her passion and her place. I am proud to be in this industry and proud to have a career that takes me for who I am, just the way I am.
@brinailedit713: It is an outlet for my creativity. I get to make people feel good. I am given the opportunity to create friendships.
@sylvia_nailedit: It is my safe place. I feel like I run away from it all, and at that moment, everything is clear. I am focused on getting the job done, adding the detail and overcoming new challenges. I find satisfaction in my work, and most importantly, in seeing my client smile.
@mani_doro_golden_hands: Who would not love to splash glitter all over the world?
@lbc_lolo: It saved my life.
@just.peachy.beauty: I love being part of people’s core memories. I see my nails hanging on people’s walls for engagement photos, wedding photos and maternity photos holding their cute little pregnant bellies. I love scrolling through social media, seeing my work in photos where people are toasting to new jobs, new homes, new travels and new adventures. I love that people come see me when they want to celebrate big milestones in their life or when they need to escape from life—they find comfort in my chair. No matter the reason that brings clients to me, I am just so thankful I get to do something so creative and magical as my career.
