Young Nails entered the traditional lacquer category in a big way with the debut of its hybrid polish line Caption. “We wanted to get into polish, but we wanted the product to be a ‘next step’ in the marketplace,” says Habib Salo, CEO of Anaheim, California-based Young Nails. “Caption has the benefits of gel without the hassle of removal.” The new collection launched in September in 42 countries and includes 60 colors and 18 top effects, as well as a base coat, top coat, drying drops and matte top coat.
Designed to stay chip-free for up to nine days, the product is formulated with a rich pigmentation, and 70 percent of the colors need just one coat—a time saver for busy salon professionals. “The product is also self leveling so it’s easy to control,” says Salo, who notes that the rounded, 320-strand application brush is cuticle-friendly. “It spreads out to conform to the shape of the cuticle.” Plus, the product can be removed using either an acetone or acetone-free product. The company plans to launch 16 to 24 new colors, beginning with a spring collection in early 2015.
