Florida-based artist Bernard never actually meant to be a nail professional. Two years ago, she attended beauty school in hopes of working on sets doing prosthetic makeup. “They told me it was best to enroll in a duel program, so I did,” says Bernard. “As soon as I took one nail class, I fell in love.” Upon entering her Instagram, you instantly see her collection of marble sets created with art inks. Bernard sources Young Nails products for her every nail art experiment. “Not only are their products amazing, but Greg, Habib and Tracey are real people,” she says. The Polish Room artist looks to Chaun Peth for inspiration. “That man puts in work and knows his worth—he is my complete goal as a nail artist,” says Bernard, who strives to work with models and celebrities on photo and film sets. Her mentor, on the other hand, is someone completely different—her grandmother, who passed away last fall. “She always told me I could do anything and believed in me more than anyone,” she says. “I made her proud before she left and will continue to make her proud.”
