The Fall 2015 BCL | CND | Tippi Hedren Nail Scholarship competition is open and accepting applications through August 17, 2015. The fourth installment of the competition culminates a generous sponsorship of $189,000 funded by CND and its loyal distributors.
As with previous competitions, 10 applicants will be awarded tuition scholarships covering 100 percent of tuition up to $5,000 at an American Association of Cosmetology Schools (AACS) member school.
The BCL | CND | Tippi Hedren Nail Scholarship Program was announced in 2014 and honors the legacy of actress and humanitarian Tippi Hedren. Scholarship winners will be selected by a panel of industry icons including Beauty Changes Lives’ newest ambassador, mentor and judge Fleury Rose, recognized by Fast Company as one of the “100 most creative people in business in 2013.” Judges will review applicants’ responses to the following questions: “Why are you pursuing a career in the nail industry?” and “How would receiving a professional nail scholarship change/fulfill your life?”
Applicants may submit their responses via a 3 minute video or a 300 word essay, in conjunction with an inspiration board showing their passion/inspiration for the industry. Asked what judges will be looking for in applications, Fleury stated, “I will be looking for applicants who are creative, passionate, and eager to learn. I would like to see the scholarship go to someone whose life would greatly improve, and benefit by learning this skill.”
“Innovative companies like CND and its distributor donors, as well as passionate artists like Fleury, have really shone a spotlight on the $9B nail industry,” said Beauty Changes Lives Foundation President Lynelle Lynch.
“It is so important for accomplished Nail Professionals like Fleury Rose to set an example for the next generation of talented artists in our industry,” says CND Co-founder and Style Director Jan Arnold. “This is a rich and rewarding profession that allows for personal satisfaction, creative development, business growth and the opportunity to pay it forward to others. Fleury is a living example of the potential for a successful career in the nail industry.”
