How to Perfect The Gradient Using a Makeup Sponge

Gradient nail art is one of the most requested designs. Here, Bay Shore, NY-based tech Jeannette Vazquez-Alfaro shares her technique to create the look using a makeup sponge.

Step 1:

1 Prep the nail and apply gel base coat and cure. Then, apply two coats of sheer nude
polish, letting each layer dry completely.

Step 2:

Apply the same sheer nude polish to the base of a clean, latex-free makeup sponge. Then, paint a band of coral, pink and purple polish on the sponge. (Note: It’s OK if the polish overlaps; this will help create a smoother transition of color.) While the polish is still wet, lightly dab the sponge on the nail 4-5 times. Let dry completely. Repeat the process, and let dry completely.

Step 3:

Apply clear glitter top coat and allow it to dry. To finish, apply gel top coat and cure.
(Note: A little glitter goes a long way. Shimmer masks any color fade imperfections.)
