Ellen Joe (EJ): I started off as a full time beautician, then later realized that I enjoy doing nails more.
NP: What is the toughest part about your job as a nail technician/nail artist/salon owner?
EJ: Because we are service providers, even on your bad days, you still need to maintain your aura, regardless of how you feel on the day.
NP: What do you love about your job?
EJ: I get to meet different people in different fields, which allows me to have different views on certain things.
NP: Where do you find inspiration?
EJ: I get inspiration from wanting to be better.
NP: What is a piece of advice you would give other nail technicians who are just getting started?
EJ: I would advise them not to give up and to hold on to the reason why they started. Also, having the urge of wanting to grow is very important.
NP: What is a tip you have about any technique, service, business, etc.?
EJ: Always practice and evolve.
NP: What is your favorite nail trend right now?
EJ: My all time and current favorite nail trend is reverse French technique.
NP: What is your favorite service to offer?
EJ: My favorite service to offer is definitely acrylics.
NP: Who is your role model?
EJ: My role model is Evon Yen Vuong (@nailsby_evon).
NP: What is one of your proudest achievements as a nail tech?

NP: What do you love about the nail community/industry?
EJ: What I love about the nail community is that everything is always evolving. It’s not a boring career.
NP: What are your top goals as a nail tech?
EJ: My top goal is to have a franchise in every country.
