The Government Affairs team at the Professional Beauty Association (PBA) is trying to get the FICA Tax Tip Credit included in the “Year End Bill.”

As the second-highest tipped industry, behind restaurants, many believe that the salon industry should receive parity in the tax code.

The 45B tax credit will provide a dollar-for-dollar credit to salons on FICA taxes paid on customer-paid tips, would allow salons to keep money in their business and extend the benefits to their employees.

By spreading the word about the 45B tax credit, the goal is to influence lawmakers to take action and get the salon industry the same tax rights regarding tipping as the restaurant industry. PBA urges beauty pros to take action.
