Jennifer Lopez has just started the newest nail trend: cellophane nails.

Liana Thomson, nail expert at nails.co.uk, says, “Tom Bachik (@tombachik), celebrity nail artist, has just created the most gorgeous set of nails on Jennifer Lopez that is a mixture of Hailey Beiber’s glazed donut nails and the popular holographic ‘mermaid nails’ trend. This is a nail trend perfect for spring and wedding season because of how natural the nails appear."

Here is how you can recreate this look:

Step One: Protect the natural nails

“After preparing the nails by filing the ends and pushing the cuticles back, you should apply a base polish," Thomson says. "This is a really important first step as it provides a clear protective layer between the nail bed and the pigment of the polish to stop the nails from being stained.”

Step Two: Apply neutral color or French tip

“The second step is to apply a white French tip to the nails," Thomson adds. "If you don’t feel confident in doing this freehand, you can try using clear tape to help get a smooth tip. Another alternative would be to apply white or neutral polish to the full nail bed.”

Step Three: Get a smooth surface

“Once this color is completely dry, apply a top coat to ensure a smooth surface," Thomson continues. "You will need to ensure all the nails are smooth as the unicorn chrome powder you are about to add can emphasize any ridges/bumps.”

Step Four: Shimmer and shine

“Next step is unicorn chrome powder. You need to add this with your finger by lightly dabbing it across the nail surface. Only apply this once the top coat is dry to the touch but is still dentable. Once the nail bed is covered in the chrome powder, you can carefully begin to lightly buff it in," Thomson explains. "When picking a unicorn chrome powder to buy, you should select a light color, ideally white with pink undertones/shine.”
