How-To: 3 Gothic Rodarte NYFW Looks

Backstage (1)

Rodarte took fashion lovers on a dark, gothic adventure with its Fall/Winter 2023 collection during New York Fashion Week. Of course, these looks were not complete without ravenous, black talons. Morgan Taylor and its lead artist Danielle Candido were tapped to create the thee looks for Rodarte that we will outline below.

Look3 (1)Look 1: Shiny, Black and Sharp

Step 1: Select soft gel tips in long stiletto. Apply it to prepped natural nail plate with adhesive nail tabs.

Step 2: Apply three coats of Morgan Taylor Black Shadow, allowing each coat to dry completely. *Do not use topcoat.

Look2 (1)Look 2: Gothic Iridescence

Step 1: Select soft gel tips in long stilleto. Apply to prepped natural nail plate with adhesive nail tabs.

Step 2: Apply two coats of Morgan Taylor Black Shadow.

Step 3: Apply two coats of Morgan Taylor Izzy Wizzy blended on tip of stiletto using a blending brush and a Gelish Mini Detailer. Layer, blending a third of the way up the nail from the free edge. Then, using light tapping strokes,  feather the Izzy Wizzy up the nail. Allow the polish to set.

Step 4: For the second layer, blend at just the tip of the free edge for added effect. Use the same light tapping strokes to feather Izzy Wizzy up the free edge. The second layer blends very easily. Allow to dry completely.

Step 5: Apply Need for Speed, and allow to dry completely.

Look1 (2)Look 3: Sparkle In the Dark

Step 1: Select soft gel tips in long stiletto. Apply to prepped natural nail plate with adhesive nail tabs.

Step 2: Apply two coats of Morgan Taylor Black Shadow.

Step 3: Streak Morgan Taylor Chain Reaction onto the free edge.

Step 4: Using the brush in the bottle, apply a very small amount to the very tip of the nail. Wipe the excess polish from the brush on a clean lint free wipe. Then, pull the brush lightly through the polish up the tip toward the nail bed, lifting the brush as you pull. A fan brush or an ombre brush can also be used to do this. Allow to set, and repeat if desired. *Do not use a topcoat to allow for texture to show.

**To recreate these looks in the salon, use Gelish or add Morgan Taylor Make It Last Topcoat to Look 1 and 3.
