Nail artist Yessica Alfaro (@clawsbyyessie) shares a tutorial for her fall matte nail design inspired by earthy tones and cozy sweater vibes.

"This nail look was inspired by the earthy tones and cozy sweater vibes of the fall season because when you think of autumn you can’t help but to think warm, nude and brown tones, along with different textures and fun patterns.  I wanted to capture all the fall vibes by bringing a touch of the season to every nail all while adding a hint of glam and sparkle to bring it all together!"

Products Used:

  • Luxa copy cat for airbrushed ombre
  • #133 Vbp for base french
  • #048 black vbp lines
  • #045 white vbp lines
  • #138 dark brown vbp lines
  • VBP Perfect Nude cover acrylic
  • Vbp matte top coat
  • Makartt rhinestone glue for gems
  • Airbrush machine

How-To:

Step 1: Prep the nails for acrylic application.

Step 2: Start off with your favorite nude base. I used my favorite cover acrylic nude by VBeauty Pure as my base foundation. File & shape your nails.

Step 3: Apply Base Coat: Apply a thin layer of gel base coat (I used cre8tion base coat) on every nail before you begin with your design for a smooth surface for your design. Cure under the UV/LED lamp for 30secs.

Step 4: Using a 20mm liner brush create your French tip nail with a light brown, I used #133 from VBeautyPure. Apply 2 layers. Cure each layer for 30 seconds.

Step 5: Create the Fall Design: Using the same liner brush, begin creating your vertical lines on your French tip nail. Create small little lines at an angle using #138 from VBP & cure for 30secs. Then go in with your black (048 vbp), white (045 vbp) & dark brown (#138 vbp) gel polish. Cure for 15 secs in between each line.

Step 6: With the same previous colors used on your french tip, Incorporate elements like diagonal lines, stripes, and curves to add depth to the other nail. Cure 15 secs in between each line.

Step 7: Matte topcoat (I used VBP Matte topcoat) the design, cure for 30 secs.

Step 8: Using your liner brush, create the knit pattern by painting straight lines with a twisted, criss-cross-like section in the middle of the lines then before curing your design pour clear acrylic powder on top (this creates the raised sweater texture effect), cure for 30secs then brush off excess powder.

Step 9: For the ombre nails: Fill your airbrush with the brown color of your choice. I used Copy Cat by Luxa. Dilute it with a bit of nail polish thinner. Test the spray on a piece of paper to ensure it’s even and to get a feel for how it sprays.

Step 10: Hold the airbrush about 6-8 inches from the nail and spray lightly. Start at the tip and gradually move towards the base.

Step 11: Apply in light layers, allowing the color to build up slowly. Then cure for 30 seconds.

Step 12: Finally, apply your rhinestone design using Makarrtt glue for gems, cure and apply matte topcoat to your nails to seal your design!
