While springtime often brings to mind pastel hues and vivid nail art, you should not underestimate the effect that neutral graphics will have on the season’s aesthetic. Celebrity nail artist Julie Kandalec breaks down an art deco nail look that effortlessly brings the roaring 1920s into the 2020s.
- Use a light color to lightly sketch a line down the center of the nail. Add a small dash where you want the moon to connect.
- In an arch shape, connect the center line to each corner of the nail. Cure, or let dry.
- Start with the lightest/most sheer shades. Fill in the first two shapes, shown here in silver and gold. Slightly extend them past the white outline for a crisp line later. Cure, or let dry.
- Repeat with the next most opaque shade, shown here in white, and cure, or let dry.
- Finish with the darkest or most opaque shade, cure, or let dry. Repeat if needed for coverage, and finish with a top coat.
