On March 8, 2022, International Women’s Day will celebrate the achievements of women from around the world and create awareness for gender equality. To commemorate the day, Ugly Duckling master educator Natasha Harton created a subtly feminine set rather than going for the default pink flowers. She explains, “I went with soft earth tones to keep the set feminine and used different shades of nudes to represent women of all races.”

Female Symbols and Crystals

Step 1: Apply two coats of beige gel polish. Cure. With a fan brush, apply random dots of gray. Cure.

Step 2: To create the female symbol, paint a circle with a ‘T’ underneath.

Step 3: Paint symbols all over the nail in different neutral shades. Cure.

Step 4: Apply crystals and caviar at the cuticle for added detail, then seal with a matte top coat.

Female Silhouette With Bun

Step 1: Apply two coats of a beige gel polish. Cure. With a fan brush, apply random dots of gray. Cure.

Step 2: Paint the head and neck of the girl. Keep a slight space between the neck and head. Cure.

Step 3: Paint the hair in the desired color. Add a small shadow under the chin, and color in the shirt.

Step 4: Add small white details between the hair and head. Paint simple lips. Cure.

Step 5: Seal with matte top coat, cure and cleanse to remove inhibition layer.

Terrazzo and Crystals

Step 1: Apply earth-toned gel polish shades to form paper. Cure. Seal with a no-wipe top coat, and cure.

Step 2: Cut gel polish squares into irregular shapes in varying sizes.

Step 3: Apply two coats of gel polish to the nail; do not cure the second coat. Press cut-up gel polish shapes into the wet gel polish, and cure.

Step 4: Encapsulate the nail with a clear gel. Cure.

Step 5: Shape and file, apply crystals and caviar beads, and seal with a matte top coat.
