NYFW S/S 2018: CND Shines in The Blonds Glitter Jungle

New York City is a everyone’s favorite concrete jungle, and this is no exception during Fashion Week. The streets are crawling with style, celebrities are front row for their favorite shows, and social media becomes a fashion epicenter. So for their Spring/Summer 2018 show, the New York born fashion house, founded in 2007 by designer Phillipe Blond and creative director David Blond, turned the concrete jungle in a glitter jungle. The collection opened with Teyana Taylor adorned in a bright blue latex body suit capped with an oversized biker jacket that mixed bright color patterns, graffiti and of course, animal print. Even though we had a hard time taking our eyes off Taylor’s gorgeous legs, stemming from gorgeous gold ankle boots, what we really couldn’t stop looking at were the nails… of course!

Co-founder and Creative Director of CND Jan Arnold was there with creative lead Shelena Robinson as well as the CND Design Lab team to create nail designs that fit The Blonds vision for larger-than-life fashion designs. Nail designs included: glow-in-the-dark accents, longer nail lengths, sparkling scorpion tails, birds of paradise, leopard spots made from jewels, and 3-D nail embellishments such as hand-molded florals that bloom right off the model’s hands.

“The Blonds always inspire us to set a new standard of uninhibited glamour,” Arnold explains, “This season took us to a jewel-drenched jungle bursting with bold color, and with styles showcasing exotic animal prints and opulent, oversized gemstones, the nails were every bit as fabulous as they were fierce.”
