The Backstory
CJ Artistry was founded back in 2013 and it started as a humble home studio offering only hair and makeup services to now being Sydney’s No. 1 nail salon in Australia, offering high quality nail services. We have always wanted to be the change within our family, which then transferred into changing the stigma behind nail salons. Our mission is to change each client’s salon experience. It all comes back to the experience; how you make someone feel. You can make someone feel so confident in just a set of nails.

The Look
With the design for the salon, our aesthetic is minimal, clean edges with a cool girl kinda vibe. When designing the space we wanted to create something that hasn't been done before in Australia, which was the custom pedicure chairs, high nail bars and "hidden" polish bottles. The No. 1 thing we made sure was to hide all nail products within draws and cupboard to create a sense of cleanliness and calmness among the salon.
Signature Services
We specialize in acrylic, builder gel and Gel X services. Our salon introduced nail artist tiers and also design tiers where clients have the choice to choose from an emerging, senior or master artist for their appointment. We also cater for different budgets and categorized our design sets so clients can choose from either a basic, extra, supreme, boujee or boujee AF set. Lately, we’ve been promoting healthy feet and nail care services. I realized that if CJ Artistry wants to be different, we can’t just be known for pretty nail designs. There has to be a balance between aesthetics and educating our clients. My favorite service currently is Nanoflex Toenail Restoration. I really want people to feel confident in their feet.
The Goods
I’m always searching for new technology, new products, new techniques to teach my team and provide for my clients. For foot transformations, for example, we’ve been loving the Toenail Tincture Spray by Footlogix.

Social Butterfly
Absolutely, with the rise of social media, it has become our biggest form of foot traffic. Follow us @cjartistry @cjacademyau on Instagram and TikTok for your daily dose of nail inspo, skits and nail education. We post 2-3 times daily.
What's Next?
We’re committed to investing in our team through advanced training. We’ve just promoted two of our girls to senior artists! This is so we can provide even better experiences to our clients. Additionally, we’ll be working on enhancing the salon’s atmosphere, making it an even more welcoming and creative space. Ultimately, our goal is to set new trends and continue raising the standard in the nail industry.

What was your first job in the nail industry?
I worked in a chain nail salon doing manicures and pedicures.
What inspires you?
When people come to me with a problem and I help them resolve it through consulting and our services.
What was the most challenging thing that happened while opening your salon?
Finding the balance in personal and professional. Still one of my biggest challenges.
What piece of advice would you give to a new salon owner?
Have a mission, remember that mission through the hard times and share this mission to your team and clients.
