Q&A:

Nailpro (NP): What is a fun fact about you?

Megan Bryant (MB): I immigrated to Australia from Kent in the UK 11 years ago.

NP: How did you get your start as a nail tech?

MB: I used to paint my Nana's nails when I was younger, always loved it and knew I wanted to go into the beauty industry one day. Then, in lockdown, I had a lot of time to rethink my career path, decided to just go for it and started training from there.

NP: What do you love about your job?

MB: I love that I get to do something that I genuinely enjoy. Seeing the process of the manicure come together is so satisfying. It never gets boring, as there is always a new technique or trend to try out.

NP: Where do you find inspiration?

MB: Mostly Instagram or Pinterest

NP: What is a piece of advice you would give other nail technicians who are just getting started?

MB: To not compare yourself with anyone else in the industry, focus on your own journey and just keep going. Perfect the basics first!

NP: What is your favorite nail trend right now?

MB: I'm obsessed with anything Harriet West Moreland – her recent blush technique manicures are beautiful.

NP: What is your favorite service to offer?

MB: I love a nice clean BIAB manicure and a bit of minimalist nail art.

NP: What is one of your proudest achievements as a nail tech?

MB: Being chosen for this is definitely one, also having an article that I wrote published.

NP: What do you love about the nail community/industry?

MB: I love that there are so many different opportunities and career paths starting to form within the industry and that there is space for everyone. I've found everyone to be really supportive, and I love that manicurists are starting to charge their worth and encouraging others to do the same. The industry has really evolved, and it deserves a place at the top of the beauty chain!

NP: What are your top goals as a nail tech?

MB: I would love to travel and experience working in the industry in other places, elevate my services to a more luxury manicure level and work on some more articles with beauty publications. I also have something on the back burner that I'd love to launch in the near future in the way of e-commerce.
