While veteran nail techs are invaluable resources because of their experience, there’s a new crop of talented young artists who are turning the nail industry upside down. So, we decided to scout some of the best 20-something nail pros for our first-ever 30 Under 30 awards. Get to know one of our winners, Sigourney Nuñez!

OPI North America education manager Nuñez started out as a DIY nail art blogger in 2013 and used Instagram as a platform to share her work and connect with other artists. After formerly working as a newspaper reporter, she later combined her journalism background with her passion for nails to work as an editor for two trade magazines. “Holly Schippers showed me the power of continuing education for nail pros, Robert Nguyen gave me my first nail salon job and Miss Pop took me under her wing during backstage shows,” says Nuñez. For proper nail prep, she exfoliates surrounding skin with the Kupa Diamond Prepper Bit during an e-manicure. “It preps the nail for optimal adhesion, and the results are clean.” Her go-to nail art tool is the dotter. “Though it’s nail art 101, once you master dot consistency and placement, you can easily create crisp and precise designs with an element of pop art,” says Nuñez.
