For clients that want a clean, crisp and durable manicure without a ton of fuss, the structured gel manicure is the way to go. Though the technique used is of utmost importance, equally important are the gel products and light selected. These perfect pairings will lead to a structured mani that looks beautiful AND lasts. Luminary Nail Systems was created as a gel system for nail techs by a nail tech, Kelly VanDahl.

Here, Luminary master educator Tara Robinson walks us through the steps to achieve the perfect structured manicure using the iconic Luminary shade "Serenity." Make sure you watch the entire video below to perfect your structured gel manis.

How-To:

  1. Perform a dry manicure. Remove shine and any dust with a lint free wipe using Purity.
  2. Apply Commit Primer.
  3. Using the Multi-Flex color of your choice, apply a very think layer, and cure for 30 seconds in the pulse LED Light.
  4. Apply a thin layer of the same color, and do not cure. This is called a slip layer. Grab a large bead of gel from your jar, using the brush from your 10 mL polish bottle, and guide the product down the nail.
  5. Once perfected using the upside down motion and detail brush, cure in the Pulse LED Light on the "P" Setting. Once the "P" setting is complete, cure for an additional 60 seconds.
  6. Remove tacky layer, and shape, if needed.
  7. Apply Empower Top Coat, and cure for 60 seconds.
