Nail Art Tutorial: Shattered Glass Manicure

The shattered glass manicure is taking the beauty industry by storm. Learn how to do it yourself for clients by following this tutorial by CND’s International Education Ambassador, Fiona Wallace, using CND Shellac in Peacock Plume, a teal hue from the Fall 2015 Contradictions collection.




Step 1:

P.E.P. the natural nail. (Perform the manicure, Eliminate surface contaminants and Purify the nail plate layers.) Apply a thin layer of SHELLAC Brand Base Coat. Cure for 10 seconds in the new CND LED Lamp.

Step 2:

Apply two thin layers of SHELLAC Brand in the shade Peacock Plume. Cure each layer for one minute.

Step 3:

Apply one thin layer of SHELLAC Brand in the shade Clearly Pink. DO NOT CURE.

Step 4:

Use the tip of an orange wood stick to apply the CND Additive Crystal Crush piece by piece. Select a variety of medium and smaller shards and press into the sticky layer of uncured SHELLAC Brand. Cure for one minute.

Step 5:

Apply the new XPRESS5 Top Coat. Cure for one minute.

Step 6:

Wipe with 99% IPA to remove top film.
