TerraCycle is working with Garnier to run the Personal Care and Beauty Brigade, which accepts all kinds of hair care, skin care and cosmetic packaging regardless of type or brand. Salons and spas can sign up for free, collect tubes and tubs and bottles in the salon, and then download a pre-paid shipping label to send the waste to TerraCycle to be recycled. The salon then earns money for any school or charity they’d like to support. Each piece of waste sent in works out to be about $.02 toward a donation. Customers can even bring in their empty bottles from home to support the cause.
