NYFW Nails S/S 2014: Butter London Nail Fashion

Butter London took the stage many times over the course of NYFW, showing off their wearability in the professional fashion world. Alongside sparkles, creams, and bold reds, Butter London polishes worked their magic every time. See the three designer looks.

At Milly, a white half moon was created over a tan base by lead manicurist Katie Jane Hughes, Global Colour Ambassador for Butter London, to complement ultra-modern fashion. “I love creating nail art on a nude base because it gives the illusion that the nail art is floating on the nail,” said Hughes. “While we saw this trend a lot for the spring runways, I do think it’s a totally wearable trend for fall!” The base was done with Butter London Nail Foundation, and the white required Cotton Buds.

On the Monique Lhuillier runway, models wore classic fashion, including reds, lace, and crimson lip color. For the same vintage feel, Hughes designed a soft neutral nail using Nail Foundation followed by two coats of Pink Ribbon. Pedicures were brighter with two coats of Pillar Box Red.

Creams, whites, and nudes inspired by athletic wear graced the stage at Louise Goldin. For the same sporty nail appearance, Hughes first used Nail Foundation and then polished digits with Pink Ribbon lacquer.

At Nicole Miller, “glitterfall” nails were designed to complement the whimsy of the clothing and hair. Hughes used The 444 as a base, and then created an ombre effect with The Black Night, dabbing the two in the center so they blended well.

Backstage at Libertine, butter LONDON Global Colour Ambassador Katie Hughed used Union Jack Black as a base, then holographic foil to apply several colours to the nails. She then applied crystals and studs to the nails and a small red pom-pom on accent nails. The crystals were also used to create hand-art – placed along the middle finger to elongate the look of the fingers.
