INSPIRE Nail Fashion for Salon Clients

Show Your Stuff
New York esthetician and Sava Spa owner Joanna Czech has already brought her business's signature polish colors to the public with its own line of lacquer. But during New York Fashion Week in September, she took them even further—onto the runway. Czech partnered with designer Barbara Tfank for Tfank's September 8th show at The Carlyle Hotel in New York, pairing a neutral shade from her Sava Spa Nails polish collection with the breezy clothes on display. "The use of a soft, sheer pink on the runway complemented both the muted and vibrant colors that dominated Tfank's spring collection; it also flatters all skin tones. A perfect color!" Czech declares.

Indie Spirits
The fashion and beauty industry trade magazine Women's Wear Daily (WWD) recently celebrated independent cosmetics companies that haven't been snapped up by large conglomerates. Their list included Essie Cosmetics, founded by Essie Weingarten; Farouk Systems Group, founded by Farouk Shami; OPI Products, headed by George Schaeffer; and Orly International, founded by Jeff Pink. These nailcare companies joined other well-known beauty brands such as John Paul Mitchell Systems, Frederic Fekkai and Sexy Hair Concepts on the list of what WWD editors described as exciting, independent companies that are still resisting the pull of large corporations.
