Bermuda, Bahama, Come On Pretty Mama

Frequent Nailpro contributor and editorial advisory board member Janet McCormick spent her winter vacation in the Caribbean, but she wasn't there to relax. McCormick, also a licensed nail tech and esthetician, visited the Windward Island School of Evangelism on the island of St. Vincent in The Grenadines, an institution that trains women from all over the Caribbean in skills that can help them earn money once they return home. McCormick instructed six women in manicuring, pedicuring and waxing. "These skills are highly valued in their home countries,

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

especially if the new professionals were taught by an American trainer, so they are sought after in their communities," she says. "This is the fourth time I've taught beauty skill classes at this mission. The attendees always follow up to tell me about the positive changes that their new skills have made in their lives when they get home," including owning their own salons and working in resorts.
   McCormick provided the labor, but taught with products donated by a number of companies, including Divi International, Flowery Beauty Products, Forsythe Cosmetic Group, FPO, OPI Products, Spilo Worldwide and Ultronics. She plans a return trip to the school in May
