The Power of Pink

Tailor-Made Lacquer

As a runway trend expert and leader in professional hand and foot beauty, CND introduces a dazzling nail lacquer concept with its new Colour & Effects polish line. Designed to be layered and customized, this new polish collection offers endless possibilities to create unique, one-of-a-kind nails. "In inventing our new colour collection, we wanted to capture the creativity of expression involved in choosing a polish color," says Jan Arnold, CND cofounder and style director. "No one wants to be seen wearing the exact same outfit as their best friend or colleague across the hall. By the same token, who wants cookie cutter manicure choices?"

So what makes this polish line so different? Here's how it works: The Colour line features 50 cream lacquers in a full spectrum of colors, ranging from neutrals and pinks to reds and bolds, including soft pink Rose Water, deep red Fireberry and bright blue Anchor Blue. Then, to complement one of these chic cream colors, it's time for one of the 15 Effects lacquers, which are available in three hues: pearl for a fine opalescence, shimmer for a more dramatic look and sparkle to add some glitter and bling. "There are not a million colours—just the right colors. We picked 50 Colours and 15 Effects with over 800 possible combinations and nail looks—and that's just from layering Effects over Colour," Arnold says.

Tailor-Made Lacquer

In addition to the new lacquer concept, CND improved the polish formulation and bottle design. The lacquer is richer in color and faster-drying, and the striking new bottle shape features improved ergonomics that allows you to firmly and comfortably cradle the bottle between your thumb and index finger. "Every detail of the packaging has been carefully considered to make the nail professional the rock star of her craft," says Arnold. Even the brush is updated with clear triangular nylon bristles, which creates a "suction" to the nail, providing a smoother and more even application of polish. "This new brush acts like a squeegee by helping to prevent bubbles."

The collection of lacquers provides an endless range of possible nail looks. "Nail color conformity is a thing of the past," explains Arnold. "Our new Colour line provides a mesmerizing combination of options for women to stylize their most natural fashion accessory: their nails."

Super Services

Super ServiceOnce again, Essie Cosmetics participated in the 12th Annual Ovarian Cancer Research Fund's Super Saturday fundraising event at Nova's Ark Project in Water Mill, New York. Hosted by Donna Karan, Ariel Foxman, InStyle magazine, Kelly Ripa and Blake Lively, the charity event, held in August, featured its famous one-of-a-kind designer garage sale, gourmet dining, kids carnival and complimentary services from Essie. The Essie team provided numerous manicures, with many attendees picking the latest neon colors Punchy Pink and Funky Limelight, while others opted for Essie classics such as Ballet Slippers and Mademoiselle.

Beauty Mission

The Beauty Bus Foundation is a new non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for homebound, terminally-ill or chronically-ill patients and their primary caregivers by providing free in-home beauty and grooming treatments. Beauty Bus offers these services to empower clients and give them a much needed respite during a difficult time.

Beauty Mission
Irene Moreno and her sister and primary caregiver, Cate Moreno, receive manicures from Beauty Bus volunteer Robbie Schaeffer, owner of Rob|bSalon.

The Beauty Bus held its first visit in July, where Robbie Schaeffer, owner of Rob|b OPI Concept Salon in Studio City, California, provided manicures to Irene Moreno and her primary caregiver and sister Cate. Recommended to Beauty Bus by the ALS Association, Irene and Cate had a wonderful time being pampered in the comfort of their home, where Irene chose OPI's pale pink polish Susie and the Life Guard and Cate picked lavender Parlez-Vous OPI? lacquer. The pampering was even captured by CBS local news in Los Angeles, which aired a segment on the Beauty Bus on July 27.

If you'd like to participate in the Beauty Bus Foundation or you know someone who would be a good candidate for Beauty Bus services, please visit beautybus.org for more information.
