AMT LogoTopple Your Competition

Are you looking for a new way to attract more clients and separate yourself from the competition? One of the latest options available for nail professionals is to become a certified Advanced Nail Technician (ANT). The Advanced Nail Technician Program is offered online as a three-module certification course. After each module, nail techs complete an exam and—if they pass—receive a displayable certificate as a Certified Advanced Nail Technician, and are listed on medinails.com as an ANT. Additionally, for nail technicians interested in working with podiatrists and physicians, the ANT Program is the prerequisite for the Medical Nail Technician courses. Education Ambassadors

In May, CND held their annual Boot Camp, an intense five-day advanced training program that is designed to qualify CND Grand Masters as CND Education Ambassadors and prepare them to represent all aspects of education for the nail professional. This year, candidates from the U.S., Canada, France and U.K attended the prestigious event, with 26 attendees graduating to become certified CND Education Ambassadors.

CND Education Ambassadors

CND cofounder Jan Arnold opened the event with a look at the company's 30-year history in a segment called CND A-Z, after which CND education training manager Roxanne Valinoti, along with six members of Global Team CND, facilitated the Boot Camp program. True to CND's healthy live/work philosophy, the five-day training course began each day with a focus on wellness through a 6 a.m. group exercise followed by a healthy breakfast. The remainder of the day consisted of intense classes on everything from natural nail anatomy and communication skills to the myths and facts of proper sanitation.

"Boot Camp reaffirms CND's commitment to high standards of education in the professional nail industry and perfection among its technicians. We are thrilled to welcome 26 new Education Ambassadors to our team and wish them continued success," says Doug Smith, education programs director for CND.

A Stellar Program

Starnail

Star Nail International recently started a new program in South America: Espaco Belaza BM&F Bovespa. The program aims to help underprivileged young women from various countries in South America obtain professional training and job experience in the nail industry. Espaco Belaza consists of a full year of nail school and training and, once the training is complete, the students are placed in a job assistance program. "This program takes responsibility for influencing and improving the social situation in South America through education, which is still the main means of achieving individual and collective growth," explains Roberta Vieira, Star Nail distributor in South America.

As a part of the program, Elaine Watson, vice president of marketing and sales and global education director for Star Nail, traveled to South America to teach the new Star Nail Eco Odor-Free System while also doing her part to help others. "Throughout the years, I have received so much knowledge and training from many selfless people, that I would like to give back to the industry. Working with this foundation was an honor and a privilege," Watson says.

Happy Feet

Oprah Magazine - Happy Feet

In June, celebrity manicurist Kimmie Kyees gave pedicures to reality TV stars Trista Sutter from The Bachelorette and Kim Kardashian from Keeping Up with the Kardashians while on the set of a photo shoot for O, The Oprah Magazine. Kyees treated the ladies to a relaxing pedicure with Checi FutFriend Socks, which are a fun pedicure accessory that keep feet warm during and after the service while lotion moisturizes skin. Kyees worked on new mom Sutters—with Sutters's baby girl asleep close by—who enjoyed the relaxing element of the toe socks. Kardashian also adored the toe socks as she claimed that they were "the best thing ever!" After their feet were beautified, both ladies posed for a fun photo to show off their love for the toe socks—with sleeping baby in tow!

Knight is now the official Team Vicki Coach for Canada and will be scheduling a series of workshops across the country.
