Happy Anniversary Nailed Down!

Anniversary

This has been a fantastic year reaching out and getting to know nail technicians from around the U.S. and around the globe.

There is so much great nail art being created every day that we’re happy to be able to feature the work of so many amazing people.  We hope you’ve enjoyed the advice, insight, and humor everyone has shared.

We checked back in with four of the technicians we first interviewed last August to get an update and see where they are now at our one year anniversary!

What have you been doing since last we spoke to you in August 2012?

During this year I have been working on new nail designs, experimenting with colors and finding new inspiration in 1960’s fashion and geometrical patterns. I’ve tried to post in my blog as often as possible.

I’ve collaborated with a well-known nail company in order to try their nail polishes from the Summer Collection 2013 and to use them for creating a new nail design. Moreover, I have been working on finding the right material for my line of nail wraps.

A significant part of my time, though, I have been dedicating to illustration. Drawing has been my passion for a long time and I’ve finally decided to devote more time to this and to develop my drawing skills. And I’m glad that my work has been recognized by publishing one of my illustrations in a magazine. I’ve also created a new blog, where you can find my works:

What is the newest technique or style you’ve gotten excited about

If I had to choose among the new styles of nail art in 2013, I would stay with color block, geometrical patterns and French manicure with colorful edges. Velvet nails are also an interesting solution in the new textures.

What is your current must-have color?

I’m undecided whether it would be a sort of emerald green or a lobster red tone. I’m in love with both of them and I think that they are perfect for summer time.

What do you hope for the future?

Though it’s difficult to make plans for the future, I have some projects in mind. I feel really excited about it and I hope I’m on the right track.

My current challenge is to find suitable material for my nail wraps, which would be easy to apply. In the future, I hope to continue to work on my line of nail designs and to create something new and appealing by putting together nail art, drawings, and fashion into one design project.

Anything else you’d like to add?

I’d just like to wish everybody success on their way to their dreams and hopes of inspiration!

What have you been doing since last we spoke to you in August of 2012

I don’t know where to start.  I went to the America’s Beauty Show in Chicago in March, the Kansas City Nail Artist Retreat in April, and Premiere Orlando in June with Empower Nail Art, Lucien Henderson  – between product knowledge classes to business empowerment courses.

What is the newest technique or style you’ve gotten excited about?

The newest technique I’m excited about right now is all the new kinds of Gel. I’ve always been an acrylic girl, but now I’m constantly seeing new and exciting ways to create nail art with Gel Polish, Gel Paints and 3D Gels. It’s opening a new door to the nail art world and it will be very exciting to see where it goes.
