Where do you work?
I am the owner of Royalti Nails and Spa
How would you describe yourself?
I would describe myself as being a leader. I am positive, outgoing, and always motivated and willing to help others. I am always looking to better myself and my business.
Tell us about how you got started in the nail industry.
I got started doing nails just being around my granny and cousin. They would always let me demonstrate on them. I started getting the kits from Walgreens, Rite Aid, etc. From 11 years-old I knew that’s what I wanted to do. It was a joy and my thing to do outside of drawing and painting.
What/Who inspires your work?
Everything from paintings, colors, fashion, etc. inspires me.
Are there any tool(s) you can’t live without?
I can’t live without cuticle pushers, cutters, files and buffers.
Do you have a favorite technique or style?
I’m loving the stiletto sets style right now. It’s fierce!
What is your craziest/funniest nail story?
I was getting ready to apply acrylic after etching. I primed the nails and then bent down to get my acrylic powders out the drawer. I couldn’t find the colors I needed. When I looked up, my client was gone. I heard the water running. I’m like, “Stacy, did you wash your hands?” “Yes. I’m ready to get my designs, Rudy” “Okay, but you can’t get them until after I lay your acrylic!” We both just laughed.
What tip can you offer to other nail technicians?
Keep an open mind. Do NOT stick to one style. Always be willing to learn and try new things. Most of all, know your work and worth. If you have a dream, do not stop until you reach your goal! Stay educated!!!
