Where do you work?
Elite 1 Salon

How would you describe yourself?
I am an over the top and eccentric girl. I absolutely love the abnormal! Art is my passion and I try to include it in every aspect of my life because I firmly believe that without it, this world would be a much uglier place. I eat, breathe, and sleep nails. I literally dream about nails and what I could possibly come up with next. I'm all about shock value! Not only do I share a passion for the nail/beauty industry, I am an avid animal rescuer and lover. I'm currently a doggie mom to four. I would take in more if I could.

My friends would describe me as outgoing, loving, funky and different. I am very blessed to have the amazing people in my life that I do. I know I wouldn't be able to be me without the support and encouragement of my ever-changing goals and sometimes crazy ideas!

Tell us about how you got started in the nail industry.
Ever since I was a little girl, I have been obsessed with doing my nails. Christmas and birthdays I asked for a press-on nail kit so I could have my nails done and, of course, I had to put every last sticker, rhinestone and drop of glitter on as well. I made a mess, and couldn't wait to torture anyone that would allow me to do the same thing. When I was in 8th grade, I got my first set of acrylics done and was hooked, constantly asking my manicurist to add more art or rhinestones or anything I could to make them bigger, better and shinier. I finally was fed up. I felt there had to be someone who wanted and could do the same things I was asking for. So, after I graduated, it was only natural for my eager mind to want to learn how to do them myself and push the limits of incorporating my crazy ideas of art on the smallest of canvases, thus beauty school.

What/Who inspires your work?
My mind never stops when it comes to creativity. Everything in my life is an inspiration to me. My biggest inspiration is my wonderful clients! Nothing makes me happier than to see an ear-to-ear smile on their faces after I'm all finished. Clothes, shoes, cartoons, themes, personal styles, other nail techs, books, crafts, color, glitter, rhinestones, abstract paintings, the 80's, animals, you name it and I'll paint it. I love a challenge and am always wanting to outdo myself.

Are there any tool(s) you can't live without?
My nails (very vital part to the process…lol), drill and paint brush!

Do you have a favorite technique or style?
My all time favorite style of nails are Duck Feet. I have also developed a love for the Stilettos as well. And, of course, hand painted nail art with a ton of sparkle.

What is your craziest/funniest nail story?
My craziest story would have to be when one of my clients asked me to write on her nail, “I’m the s@#t” But rather then writing the “S” word on her nail, she wanted me to paint a steaming pile of poo, LITERALLY! After I died laughing and tried to contain myself, I asked her if she was certain she wanted this on her nail for the next three weeks until her next appointment. Her answer was “yes,” so that’s what I did. By far the most bizarre request to date, but very memorable.

What tip can you offer to other nail technicians?
Most important tip in my opinion is to stay humble and grateful. We need our clients just as much as they need us! Also embrace change! It's so easy to stay in our own comfort zones and stick to what we know best, but you will miss out on amazing things if you don't keep an open mind. The beauty industry is forever changing and improving. If we don't keep up, we will be left in the dust.

Anything else you'd like to add?
Just remember, glitter and sparkle makes everything better!!
