Nail Artist Q&A: "Nailed Down!" with Denyel Asplund!
Welcome to NAILPRO's NAILED DOWN where we “nail down” the details of selected nail design artists from our User Galleries.
This week we visit New York!
Meet Denyel Asplund:
Where in the world do you live?
I live in New York, but am originally from Pennsylvania.
How would you describe yourself?
Fun, caring, honest and genuine.
Tell us about how you got started in the nail industry.
I just do my own nails right now.
What/Who inspires your work?
Mainly my own ideas or things I have seen on Pinterest.
Do you have any tool(s) you can't live without?
File, clear OPI coat and nail art thin brush.
Do you have a favorite technique or style?
I do a lot of polka dots because they're super easy. I also like to paint the ring finger a different color style with glitter.
What is your funniest/craziest nail story?
Doing nail art on my boyfriend's toenails which turned out really good! :)
What tip can you offer to other nail technicians?
Wait for your first coat to dry and then do a second or it gets thick and smudges off. Also, set hands in cold water for a few minutes after painting. It helps to set the polish and dry it.
