to Art Gallery Archives

"Art Gallery" showcases the nail art of some of the best artists in the industry. Every month, the column features four to six nail art designs created by one or more of our readers with easy-to-follow, step-by-step instructions. The nail art usually follows a theme for an upcoming holiday or season and depicts that theme in creative, easy-to-replicate designs. The column also provides promotional tips to help readers make the most of their nail art businesses.

Nailpro is actively seeking nail art submissions, so send in your best examples today. If your art is chosen, we'll pay you $25 per nail and you'll be featured in an upcoming issue. Package nails securely, using bubble wrap, a padded box or cotton, and send by snail mail to: Nailpro, 7628 Densmore Ave., Van Nuys, CA 91406, Attn.: "Art Gallery." Don't forget to include your name, address and phone number!

Autumn Colors

This season, offer nail art that your clients will fall for.

As the air chills and the scents of fall become familiar, we bundle up in sweaters, bake pies and begin planning for upcoming holidays. For nail techs, this is also the perfect time of year to craft an array of autumn-themed nail art that incorporates rich fall colors and images. After all, for some clients these months—and the season’s various holidays—are the only times of year they request nail art; for others, this is a time when they really let their nails come alive with colorful designs.

Thanks to the talent of nail tech Robin Lee Simmons, this month’s Art Gallery provides two shimmering reflections of the fall season. She uses traditional fall colors, such as shades of orange and gold, to create designs that your clients will love. I’ve also thrown in a couple of designs to accompany the harvest season and inspire nail techs to fill their salons not only with hot apple cider and candy, but also with designs perfect for the prewinter months.

Brush Up

Try using unusual items as paintbrushes. For example, tear up a makeup sponge and use the pieces to create a mottled, spongelike effect on nails. Cotton swabs can provide another fun, textured look. Feathers dipped in paint will add a wispy effect. Look around at everyday items—you’ll be amazed at what can double as artists’ tools!
