to Art Gallery Archives
"Art Gallery" showcases the nail art of some of the best artists in the industry. Every month, the column features four to six nail art designs created by one or more of our readers with easy-to-follow, step-by-step instructions. The nail art usually follows a theme for an upcoming holiday or season and depicts that theme in creative, easy-to-replicate designs. The column also provides promotional tips to help readers make the most of their nail art businesses.
Nailpro is actively seeking nail art submissions, so send in your best examples today. If your art is chosen, we'll pay you $25 per nail and you'll be featured in an upcoming issue. Package nails securely, using bubble wrap, a padded box or cotton, and send by snail mail to: Nailpro, 7628 Densmore Ave., Van Nuys, CA 91406, Attn.: "Art Gallery." Don't forget to include your name, address and phone number!
Fine Lines
These deceptively complex ideas produce elegant results.
By Pam Minch

In modern salons, techs have taken the concept of nail art to a whole new level—after all, nail art boosts your client base by allowing you to offer exciting additions to the standard polish options. But going back to basics—to those first nail designs that consisted of simple lines—can also create beautiful effects.
Nailpro called upon nail tech Victoria Allen from Ontario, Canada, to generate some art ideas that you can easily incorporate into your daily routine. These designs offer maximum versatility because you can create them with any polish color. If time is an issue, add art to only one nail; for a more dramatic look, paint a whole set.
Allen utilized simple striping techniques and added flowers, dots and glitter to craft designs that will appeal to everyone. This art is ideal for any client who has been reluctant to try hand-painted designs—once the compliments start to flow, she’ll be hooked forever, so grab a striping brush and give them a try!
Brush Up
For all of the designs featured this month, you can use striping brushes or striping pens. I use several sizes of brushes to create different effects. You can also remove bristles from a regular brush to create finer lines. Once you get the hang of this technique, try it using different designs and colors!
