to Art Gallery Archives

"Art Gallery" showcases the nail art of some of the best artists in the industry. Every month, the column features four to six nail art designs created by one or more of our readers with easy-to-follow, step-by-step instructions. The nail art usually follows a theme for an upcoming holiday or season and depicts that theme in creative, easy-to-replicate designs. The column also provides promotional tips to help readers make the most of their nail art businesses.

Nailpro is actively seeking nail art submissions, so send in your best examples today. If your art is chosen, we'll pay you $25 per nail and you'll be featured in an upcoming issue. Package nails securely, using bubble wrap, a padded box or cotton, and send by snail mail to: Nailpro, 7628 Densmore Ave., Van Nuys, CA 91406, Attn.: "Art Gallery." Don't forget to include your name, address and phone number!

Love Is in the Air

Sweet nail art is only a heartbeat away.

A heart: the simple, universal symbol of love. No matter where you go, nothing says amore quite like it. This flirty shape is so fun and easy to paint that all of your clients should leave the salon with 1, 2 or even 10 hearts on their nails!

Nailpro has called on the talents of Karina Bresnahan from Greenfield, Massachusetts, to add a feeling of romance to this month’s issue. Her glamorous pink nail will put your clients in the mood for dream dates with their favorite heartthrobs. And what woman doesn’t love a little bling? I’ve thrown in a design of my own that doesn’t require a trip to the jeweler.

All of these designs carry an air of sophistication yet are a breeze to duplicate. Whether it’s a dramatic French design or a simple heart, your clients will fall in love with these nail art ideas.

Brush Up
When painting tiny details, try using a magnifying lamp with a natural light bulb. This enables you to make the design really pop and saves your eyesight at the same time.

Beginner:
Heartthrob
1 Polish the nail iridescent pink.
2 Paint red diagonal lines on the nail one quarter inch apart.
3 With white paint, add dots next to each line.
4 In between each line of dots, paint tiny red and pink hearts. Finish
with top coat.

Average Time: 3 minutes per nail
Suggested Price: $3 per nail

Intermediate:
Heart’s Desire
1 Polish the nail
shimmering maroon.
2 Paint three hearts down the nail using light pink.
3 On the top and bottom hearts, add white detail lines and small inner hearts.
4 In the center heart, paint a spiral flower in dark pink. Fill in the center of the flower with mauve and paint four tiny green leaves around it. Finish with top coat.
