Cutting Corners
Treat your clients to nail art with a whole new angle.
By Pam Minch

One of the first forms of nail art involved striping, and the technique is as popular today as it was decades ago. A diagonal design offers a quick introduction to a new nail art client—you can easily enhance a French with a little 45-degree flair. Striping is also a great idea for a client who surprises you with a last-minute nail art request. You can achieve simple designs in a minute or two, or create one detailed diagonal design on each hand to offer a quick sampling of your talents.
This month’s “Art Gallery” features designs from nail tech April Davidson from Milford, Ohio. Using glitter polish, she employs creative angles and diagonal lines to create some classy design elements that will have your clients angling for more! Whether you opt for a detailed or simple concept, these time-tested designs will be a sure hit with novice and veteran nail art clients alike.
Brush Up
Get creative with embellishments when you create diagonal designs. Add a line with rhinestones or striping tape, or try alternating between diagonal, horizontal and V-shaped stripes on a single set of nails.
