Nail Art Tutorial: Minnie Driver’s Emmy Manicure

When you are nominated for an Emmy, you’ve got to make sure that your nails look sleek, just in case you end up on stage. Thus, actress Minnie Driver had Cuccio Colour’s Elaine Watson polish her nails perfectly before the 66th Primetime Emmy Awards, in which Driver was nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Miniseries or Movie for her work in the Lifetime series Return to Zero.

At first glance, this mani looks like it’s just two colors: red and gunmetal. However, Watson actually used three different polishes and topped it all off with a tiny Swarovski crystal on each nail. The finished look is as detailed and delicate as fine jewelry. Read the steps below to recreating the look.

Step 1: After prepping the nail and applying basecoat, paint Cuccio Hong Kong Harbor over the entire nail. Wait for it to dry completely before proceeding.

Step 2: Apply Cina Pro Striping Tape to create the long, thin triangle shape on each nail.

Step 3: On portion of the nail outside of the tape, polish with Cuccio Red Eye to Shanghai.

Step 4: On the ring finger, add thin lines of Vegas Vixen around the outside of the tape. Pull the tape off. This should have created a thin silver stripe outlining the point.

Step 5: Remove tape from all other nails. Using a fine brush, draw a thin line of Vegas Vixen just inside the silver point of each nail.

Step 6: Finish with Cuccio Nail Solutions High Gloss Top Coat. While the top coat is still wet, apply a tiny Swarovski crystal at the cuticle in the silver area on all 10 nails.
