Nail Art Tutorial: Gelish Matte French Manicure

Final Look 1

As a tech, it’s your duty this season to amp up those French manicures, whether perfecting your pink-and-white skills or trying different takes on the design. Just for the occasion, Gelish showed how to paint this matte French using Gelish Top It Off Matte.

Gelish Matte Step 1
Step 1: Prep and shape the natural nail. Remove any excess dust with Gelish Nail Surface Cleanse on a lint-free wipe. Apply a thin coat of Gelish PH Bond.

Gelish Matte Step 2
Step 2: Apply a very thin coat of Gelish Foundation Base Gel to the entire nail and cap the free edge. Cure in an LED light for 5 seconds or 1 minute in a 36-watt UV light. Using a clean, dry gel brush, wipe the surface of the cured Foundation gel to remove excess tackiness.

Gelish Matte Step 3
Step 3: Using Black Shadow, wipe excess product off the brush. Cap the free edge first, and then apply a thin coat of color onto the nail plate. Cure in for 30 seconds in an LED light or 2 minutes in a UV light. Repeat.

Gelish Matte Step 4
Step 4: Apply Top It Off Matte, making sure to cover the entire nail. Cure for 30 seconds in an LED or 2 minutes in a UV light. Remove the tacky surface.

Gelish Matte Step 5
Step 5: Using traditional Top It Off, create a French manicure design along the tip of the nail, capping free edge first. Cure for 30 seconds in an LED light or 2 minutes in a UV light. Remove the tacky surface.
