Nail Art: Tips for Creating Baby Shower Nails

380 6

There’s been lots of baby talk. With Duchess Kate and Prince Will giving birth to their first child, George, who just so happens to be the heir to the British throne, the nail world is exploding with renditions of baby nails. Whether your client is expecting a baby or just wants to join in the celebration of the new royal, try out some of these baby shower manicures. And remember, if you’re painting the tips of a mommy-to-be, be sure to offer a pregnancy-safe brand polish, like Knocked Up Nails or Safe Nails.

Boy or girl, that’s always the question. Some clients might enjoy this manicure early in a pregnancy before they know the sex, or for a gender reveal party, an increasingly popular event.

If it’s a boy, this detailed mani is perfect. The various shades of blue make a one-tone manicure hard to resist. Offer a selection of one-nail artwork for clients to choose from: they can mix and match five separate designs they like for each hand. By having some simple patterns (such as the glitter) and others more time-consuming (like the tiny pearls), moms-to-be can either opt for a simple set of tips or go all out, depending on their budget.

Girl Nails 0If it’s a girl, a feminine set is a must. Nails that proclaim, “It’s a…,” are great once a pregnant client knows which sex she is having. This nail artist took a more vibrant route with the traditional “pink and whites,” and created a totally unique style. If a client knows her baby bundle’s gender, but hasn’t announced it to friends or family yet, snapping a picture of these nails post-mani to send out is a fun way to share the news.

For classic soft-as-baby-skin nail art, try muted pastels like this pink alongside ivory. A tiny detailed bow or footprint is a graceful addition.

For either a boy or a girl, these nails are fantastic. Change up the color to match the client’s request. @Mac_schoen originally designed this manicure in blue, but it also looks fantastic in a girly color scheme. Alternate pink and blue nails for someone who is keeping the gender a secret altogether. You can also try yellow or an array of pastels for a customer who is keeping the baby’s sex completely under wraps.
