Joy Juice Provides Empowering Makeovers for Teens with Cancer

Danny Alotta And Brian

When Danny Alotta was going through chemotherapy as a senior in high school, he would get all dressed up to go to his treatments, which he called his “joy juice”. Danny believed that if he looked good, he would feel good, so he’d give himself fashion makeovers to receive his chemo.

In 2013 Danny started Joy Juice, a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of teens affected by cancer through peer support and art therapy interventions. Getting dressed up for chemotherapy helped Danny find confidence and gave him a more positive outlook. That is just what he wanted to share with others and today Joy Juice provides fashion makeovers and more to teens with cancer.

Danny explains why he started Joy Juice:

On April 25, Joy Juice joined forces with Teen Cancer America to give empowering makeovers to over 20 teens at Smashbox Studios in Los Angeles. The teens enjoyed professional hairstyling, makeup, manicures, wardrobe styling and a personal photo shoot.
