Essie Teams Up With Rebecca Minkoff For Spring 2017

On Saturday, Feb. 4, Rebecca Minkoff showed her Spring 2017 collection at The Grove shopping mall in Los Angeles. Creating the California cool vibe of the 1970s, Minkoff worked with Essie and nailpro Michelle Saunders to create a nail art design for the show.

Minkoff, the brand’s global color designer, looked to her California roots for the inspiration behind her collection. Inspired by the effortlessly cool women of the era, the surf culture and retro designs of the time, Saunders created a pink-hued rainbow on the models’ nails using tones of the sunset horizon.

essie at Rebecca Minkoff – Nail Look

The look used four colors from Essie’s Spring 2017 collection; Designated DJ, B’aha Moment!, Excuse Me Sur and Backseat Besties and Essie’s Mademoiselle.

Get the look:

  1. Apply one coat of First Base base coat to a dry, clean nail, followed by a coat of Mademoiselle.
  2. Create the monochromatic rainbow design using a striping brush to create four thin arches, beginning with Designated DJ just below halfway down the nail.
  3. Continue to paint each arch thinly with B’aha Moment, Excuse Me Sur and Backseat Besties, slightly overlapping each color.
  4. Finish with Gel-Setter top coat.

As part of the See Now, Buy Now experience, where shoppers can buy exactly what they see on the runway immediately, Essie has released a bundle including all five colors on Amazon for $45.
