Meet Gino Trunzo, Director of Education at Essie Professional!

NAILPRO: What was your first job ever?
Trunzo: I was a stock boy at Trunzo Meats, my dad’s Italian Meat Market in Brooklyn, New York.

What inspires you?
Taking on a challenge that I fear that I can’t do—and then I go for it!

My guilty pleasures are…
Gummy bears and silly movies.

My childhood ambition was…
To be in the automobile industry. I’m a car enthusiast.

What was your first job in the industry?
I was the spa director at A.F. Bennett Salon & Wellness Spa in Staten Island, N.Y., and later became general manager.

Are you a morning or night person?
I’m definitely a morning person. I’m up at 5 a.m. every day.

What is your proudest accomplishment?
Personally, it’s my relationship with my partner Jon Wolfe Nelson. (We’ve been together for 15 years!) Professionally, it’s conceptualizing, building, owning and operating Rescue Hand & Foot Spa in West Hollywood, California. My salon was the catalyst for my career trajectory.

My favorite type of music is…
The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Billy Joel and Freestyle always bring me back.

My Yorkies, Monti and Lily.

My 2015 Infiniti Q50.

Italian and Asian.

Bugs that fly!

Who would you like to work with?
I have been so blessed throughout my career to work with so many talented individuals. At this point, it is most important that I work with people who need mentoring and career guidance.
